An Ode for our long suffering partners, penned and recited by Stacey at the Club Dinner
Tonight I have a tale to tell
As we gather here at the Inverkip Hotel.
To celebrate our Annual Dinner
I’m sure it will go very well.
The Lylecraigs meet every 2 weeks
To take to the hills and bag all the peaks.
Glencoe, Knoydart, the Isle of Skye
Why Oh Why our families sigh.
Well let me explain to you the reason
The Highlands are beautiful whatever the season.
Dramatic skylines, Lochs and Glens
But I know it drives you roon the bend.
But here, chin up and please keep upbeat
One day a fortnight we’re not under your feet.
With a day of peace and quiet you’ll be able
To have our tea, ready, on the table!
The Club weekends, what can I say?
A hike in the mountains usually last all day.
Back to the hostel for a swim in the loch
Then food and bevy, how those times rock.
In the hostels you’re bound to meet
Like minded bumpkins wi blisters on their feet.
As the night goes on everyone becomes your best bud
Unless your name’s U***la ‘cos then your name’s mud.
Now comes the time for me to stop talking
And get back to our drink, you know the drill.
Without your support we couldn’t go walking
Raise a glass to you all for you are Brill.
